Changes in organic matter composition during the Toarcian Oceanic Anoxic Event (T-OAE) in the Posidonia Shale Formation from Dormettingen (SW-Germany)

چکیده
During the Early Toarcian, deposition of organic carbon-rich-shales occurred throughout epicontinental sea across Europe. Climate instability and high extinction rates in marine realm were associated with profound environmental changes. The Toarcian Oceanic Anoxic Event (T-OAE) has been linked to injection greenhouse gases (e.g. oceanic methane) into atmosphere triggered by emplacement Karoo-Ferrar large igneous province (LIP) volcanism. data presented are obtained from Posidonia Shale Formation Dormettingen (southwestern Germany), ~2 km well-known Dotternhausen section. Despite intense palaeontological geochemical research, studies on particulate matter (POM) T-OAE scarce. Here, we provide a detailed study POM section as tool evaluate changes depositional environment. Integrated (i.e. amorphous matter, terrestrial palynomorphs) carbon isotope δ13C) analyses reveal different episodes palaeoecological upheavals during studied time interval. In this study, will integrate new palynofacies combine it existing sedimentological order interpret relative sea-level fluctuations climatic at local palaeogeographic setting.

Planktonic Foraminifera of the Dariyan formation and implications of Oceanic Anoxic Event 1a
The investigated section cropping out in Kuh-e-Banesh, Zagros basin (southern Iran) is represented by limestone, Cherty beds and marllevels bearing abundant Planktonic foraminifers, radiolarian microfaunas, and ammonite imprints. For the first time, well to moderatelypreserved forms of Planktonic foraminifera have been extracted from black shale and marls levels. Extracted biota was studied wit...

[1] Profiles of Mo/total organic carbon (TOC) through the Lower Toarcian black shales of the Cleveland Basin, Yorkshire, United Kingdom, and the Posidonia shale of Germany and Switzerland reveal water mass restriction during the interval from late tenuicostatum Zone times to early bifrons Zone times, times which include that of the putative Early Toarcian oceanic anoxic event. The degree of res...
متن کاملConstraining the rate of oceanic deoxygenation leading up to a Cretaceous Oceanic Anoxic Event (OAE-2: ~94 Ma)
The rates of marine deoxygenation leading to Cretaceous Oceanic Anoxic Events are poorly recognized and constrained. If increases in primary productivity are the primary driver of these episodes, progressive oxygen loss from global waters should predate enhanced carbon burial in underlying sediments-the diagnostic Oceanic Anoxic Event relic. Thallium isotope analysis of organic-rich black shale...
متن کاملToarcian oceanic anoxic event: An assessment of global causes using belemnite C isotope records
[1] Two hypotheses have been proposed to explain simultaneous large negative excursions (up to 7% PeeDee belemnite) in bulk carbonate (dCcarb) and organic carbon isotope records (d Corg) from black shales marking the Toarcian oceanic anoxic event (T-OAE). The first explanation envisions recycling of dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC) with a light isotopic signature into the photic zone from the l...
